How might you master the art of self protection?

So many of us are harmed and then react to much of life feeling victimized or like “things just happen to us.”

It’s part of our natural brain processes to remember dangerous situations and avoid them at all costs- even to our own detriment.

Yet, there are ways of getting really good at self protection that don’t rely on generalization or hyper-vigilance.

Here are my best recommendations:

Create clear boundaries ahead of time so there’s no question when they’re crossed.

Trust yourself if something doesn’t feel right, and have an exit strategy that feels grown up and safe.

Get comfortable communicating how you feel with others, owning your experience and also not expecting to control those around you.
